 Nepean National Equestrian Park - Eventing Clinic - Sunday July 17th

 The Nepean National Equestrian Park is hosting an eventing clinic for pre-entry, entry and pre-training levels on Sunday July 17th. The clinic is designed to give each participating horse and rider a full horse trials experience without the stress of competition! Maximum of 5 riders/group.

 Cost: $100+HST 

Phase 1 – Dressage 8 am
Pre-entry and entry: 8- 9:45 a.m.
Pre-training: 9:45 am -11 a.m.
The eventing dressage test (Canadian Eventing Dressage Tests #2 for pre-entry, entry and pre-training) will be the warm-up to the day. Dressage judge, Caroline Anderson, will judge you and give feedback and coaching tips on how to improve your scores in your test.
*Open tests for non-clinic horses/riders: 11 am – 1 pm
This is open to non-clinic horses/riders who want to ride any level of test, be judged and have feedback.

Cost is only $20/test. Sign up for times/tests when you arrive: 1st come, 1st served!

Phase 2 – Stadium Jumping
Pre-entry/entry: 10 am – 11:30 am
Pre-training: 11:30 am – 12:45 pm
Level 2 eventing coach Casey Gillis will conduct jumper schooling exercises with each group and each participant will do a “test” round of the stadium course. The stadium judge will give feedback to each rider on how to improve their success in the stadium ring.
Phase 3a – Cross Country Course walk
Pre-entry: 12-12:45 pm
Entry: 12:45 – 1:30 pm
Pre-training: 1:30 pm – 2:30 pm
The cross country course designer/builder will lead a course walk with each group to discuss the design of the course and the jumping questions being asked so that each participant better understands how to ride the jumps safely. Wear running shoes/sturdy boots + bring a water bottle.
Phase 3b - Cross Country
Pre-entry: 1-2:15
Entry: 2:15-3:30
Pre-training: 3:30-4:45 pm
Level 2 event coach Casey Gillis will work each group on specific XC questions. Each participant will be given the chance to do a “test” round of a section of the cross country course with feedback from Casey on how to improve their cross country skills.

Cheques payable to the “City of Ottawa”. Mastercard and Visa are accepted in person at the NNEP main office.

2011 TEAM CHALLENGE

 Teams must be submitted to:  Ruth Allum, 8249 Fernbank Road, Ashton, Ontario, K0A 1B0;

ruth@oakhurstfarm.com  by July 1st, 2011

 

If a competitor does not yet have a team but would like to be added to one,

please submit an application form and shortly after July 1st, 2011 you will be assigned to a team.

 

 1. Composition of teams:

Each team can consist of up to 4 rider/volunteer combinations (less is okay too!).

Teams may consist of either volunteers or riders, or a mix of both.

Competitors/volunteers may choose their own teams, and a really cool team name!

Try to include riders from all divisions.

If a rider volunteers and rides in the same competition, points for both volunteering and riding will be awarded to his/her team.

Each team must identify a captain who, after each NCHTA Horse Trials will provide Ruth with a list of its team members that helped at the Horse Trials.

The list of teams & their members will be posted on the NCHTA website

 2. Allocation of Points:

Points will be awarded to each team for competing or volunteering at NCHTA designated Horse Trials or special functions as follows:

 Competition points:

1 point for each team member that enters the dressage ring at an NCHTA Horse Trials

1 point for each team member that places1st to 5th in the Horse Trial

(This means that each person that competes has a chance of adding a maximum of 2 points to the team's total)

1 point for each member that competes in an NCHTA Radical Jumper show or an OVH Hunter Pace

Volunteering points:

1 point per day of competition for each member helping in the running of an NCHTA Horse Trials

Special Function points:

1 point for each member that participates in additional NCHTA designated functions

      (Banquet, work days, clinics, etc… these will be listed on the NCHTA website)

 3. How to Volunteer

For each day of the competition that you volunteer, a point can be earned for your team.
